  • Bank Street Bridge - Big, Bold & Beautiful

Bank Street Bridge - Big, Bold & Beautiful

Bank Street Bridge, built in 1912, spans over the Rideau Canal in South Ottawa. The bridge extends over Queen Elziabeth drive as well as Colonel By drive. This panoramic image is constructed from 33 high resolution images that have been stitched together to form one extra large panoramic image. If this image were to be printed at it's native full resolution, it would print out at a super detailed 91" wide x 39" tall.

  • Rollin On By - Bank Street Bridge

Rollin On By - Bank Street Bridge

One of a few buses that rolled on by over Bank Street Bridge while I was taking some shots of the TD Place Tower. This was a 10 second exposure, with my tripod carefully placed just shy of the bridge. When these big buses go over the bridge, it causes quite a bit of movement of the ridge deck, a long exposure shot will end up blurry from the movement of the bridge.

  • Bank Street Bridge - Black & Winter Reflections

Bank Street Bridge - Black & Winter Reflections

The Bank Street bridge is such an iconic location in Ottawa, offering passage over the Rideau Canal and the worlds largest outdoor skating rink in the winter when it is partially drained and freezes. The ice is just starting to form, with large pockets of water, and if I had to guess, the ice is less than an inch thick at this time. The sheen from the ice was providing a nice reflection of the lights from the bridge. Taken at dusk, November 29, 2020 This image is roughly 36" tall, and 64" wide in it's native resolution at 300 dpi.

  • Cotton Candy Sunset over the Ottawa River

Cotton Candy Sunset over the Ottawa River

Fresh out of the camera from this evening, It's Friday night ... COVID-19 restrictions are suffocating for many, but within all of the struggles, a wonderful show from Mother Nature was on display tonight. It was a wonderful late summerlike evening, who knew we would be so lucky as to get such a nice heatwave in November. I think it peaked at 18 or 19 degrees Celsius ... wonderful! Stay safe everyone, and find things that make you happy and enjoy them when the opportunity arises!

DIALOGUE - Parliament Hill is in it's sights.

This very interesting piece of artwork created by Florent Cousineau, sits along the walkway near the Alexandra bridge over the Ottawa River. Once the light goes down, light sources emanate from within the two figures to create a fluid, rythmic dialogue, inviting passersby to linger. *Credit to artist Florent Cousineau for the creation of the sculpture "Dialogue"

  • Prettoria Bridge at Night

    Prettoria Bridge at Night

Tonight I wandered out and around the city of Ottawa after sunset looking for somewhere to capture. I thought it might be a good night to take a panoramic image of the Prettoria bridge over the Ridea Canal since there was little to no wind. I was right, the reflections were wonderful, and with it still being pretty cool at night, I had the place to myself to capture.

  • Sparks Street - New Years Eve 2018

Sparks Street - New Years Eve 2018

Who would have thought that Sparks street would be so quiet on New Years Eve in downtown Ottawa. I think the forecast for freezing rain starting early in the evening probably had something to do with it.

  • Chateau Laurier at Street Level

    Chateau Laurier at Street Level

Taken down as low as my tripod would go, I wanted to capture the gritty texture of the tiles along the widewalk as they lead the eye to the magnificent Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel.

  • The Glow of Ottawa at Night

The Glow of Ottawa at Night

Taken mid evening on the bridge beside the Shaw Centre, I loved how the fog in the air added to the scene. Providing a nice suble softness to the street and building lights.

  • Sparks Street Cup during the Rains

Sparks Street Cup during the Rains

As is evidenced in the photo, I weas unable to keep my lens dry during the shoot, as much as I tried ... Wiping it off between each shot. In the end I liked the way the water droplets on the lens added to the mood.

This is a 6 shot panoramic image of the walkway along the Alexandria bridge as it connects Ontario and Quebec together in Ottawa / Hull. I loved the way the water puddles looked in the capture.

    Parliament Hill Library

If you happen to walk around to the back of the Parliament buildings, you will see this amazing architecture of the Library. This was a long exposure with a 10 stop ND filter to show the cloud movement on a windy day.

    Look Up. Waaay Up!

This is the view from the Atrium inside of the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in Atlanta Georgia. It is a truly spectacular hotel, with a wonderful view from within the hotel itself. This was a single 10 second exposure, taken to capture the movement and lights from the elevators. (The two tubes that look as though they have just blasted off)

  • Sunset from the Copper Spirits Lounge, Andaz Boutique Hotel, Ottawa, Ontario

Sunset from the Copper Spirits Lounge, Andaz Boutique Hotel, Ottawa, Ontario

The Andaz Hotel offered myself along with a few other local Ottawa photographers the opportunity to set up their tripods and take over their balcony off of the Copper Spirits Lounge just before the Hotel first opened to capture sunset shots. This is one of the shots I managed to capture.

  • The Big Sweeping Bend, South of Page, Arizona

The Big Sweeping Bend, South of Page, Arizona

In my visits to Page, Arizona, I haven't often seen stormy clouds, or much in the way of clouds of any sort. So, when I had this nice long sweeper of a corner with wonderful stormy clouds ovevrhead, I couldn't resist pulling over to capture it. This is a multi-column panoramic image.

The Old Train Bridsge off Hwy 17, Ontario

Hiking up onto the old bridge to capture the view looking east. It looked like the train tracks were no longer in use, but apparently they are still in use now and then. Always be safe and aware of your surroundings when near train tracks.
